If there's one bar in Sydney where people have been going since it opened in 1968, to be a part of a friendly atmosphere, but with an edge all of its own, it's the Bourbon.
Stephen has played there regularly since the late '90's.
With an entrance regaled in Stars And Stripes flags, candy coloured pavements and every US holiday known celebrated with great fervour, the Bourbon became a first port of call for US service personnel, whose ships dock regulary at Garden Island.
The air would be thick with american accents and these people know how to party! They love their Billy Joel (well, the white boys do and that's a fact) and the staff love 'em as they come from the land of the big tip.
This is what set the Boubom apart from any other bar in town: the fact that anyone could walk through the door, and usually did, and easily became another character in the colourful plot that would unfold that night.
